For the first time the tournament for the Polish championship took place in the coastal city of Jurata in June 1937.

The great foreign chess masters were: Gedeon Stahlberg (Sweden), Vasja Pirc (Yugoslavia), Jan Foltys (Czechoslovakia), Lajos Steiner (Hungary) and Erik Andersen (Denmark).
